Kate Calderbank (Bytheway Coaching)
Have you always felt slightly out of step — like everyone else received a map you never got? Have you spent years being endlessly available, slightly confused, endlessly accommodating, quietly seething — and wondering in stolen moments what it would feel like to finally stop performing?
That wondering is not selfishness. It is your truest self — and frankly, they are done waiting. They are also considerably more interesting than the version you've been presenting to the world.
Because here's what nobody tells you: there is no 'one way' to be a woman. There are multitudes. The warrior and the mystic. The boundary-setter and the sensualist. The visionary and the one who just needs a bloody nap. The riotously outlandish and the quietly, devastatingly elegant. All of them valid. All of them yours. All of them currently buried under a lifetime of conditioning that told you to pick one acceptable version and stick to it.
Coaching with me is an excavation. Not of problems to be fixed, but of parts of yourself that have been waiting — sometimes for decades — to be recognised, reclaimed, and brought into the light. It is for the ones who colour outside the lines now, or desperately want to. The ones who have outgrown the script but aren't quite sure yet how to write their own. The ones who are done being palatable, done being one-dimensional, and ready — finally — to take up the full, complex, gloriously inconvenient space they were always entitled to.
I am a qualified life coach, trained through One of Many, working toward my ICF ACC accreditation. My background is genuinely eclectic — art and design, woodwork and textiles, a Master's in Urban Regeneration, and the majority of my working life in systems design and data analysis. I am also a lay preacher in the Unitarian tradition, with a long-standing interest in philosophy, flourishing, and what it means to live well. I bring all of it. The design eye that looks for what is load-bearing and what can safely come down. The systems thinker who can map a process. The craftsperson who knows that good work takes the time it takes. The rebellious spirit who questions what she is told she should do.
My coaching is for women who are beginning to question the life they have been living — not because it is bad, but because they suspect it was never quite theirs. Women who give generously to everyone around them and have lost the thread back to themselves. Women who may have read all the books and know all the frameworks but find that something still isn't shifting. Women at a point of transition, realisation, or quiet exhaustion — ready to stop performing and start choosing.
I work at the level of values, conditioning, and identity before we ever touch goals and actions. My approach is somatic, trauma-informed, and neurodivergence-aware — because standard frameworks don't fit every brain, and real change is not cognitive. It is embodied. I will always ask your WHY before we touch your HOW.
I make my practice explicitly welcoming to trans women and non-binary clients, and to anyone who has ever felt that the available scripts for how to be a woman simply didn't fit. I welcome and affirm all gender identities, sexualities, and relationship structures (including polyamory and non-monogamy). I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your unique experience without having to explain or defend your identity.
You are not too much. You were just given the wrong map.
If any of this sounds familiar — I'd love to talk.
